Weather and Climate
Spring weather is very unpredictable. Stormy, wet days are common,
but warm, sunny days occur rather often, too. Spring wildflowers bloom from April to June,
peaking in May.
Summer days are hot (95-110 F / 35-43 C),
but the nights usually cool down to quite confortable temperatures (65-75 F / 18-24 C).
Afternoon storms are common from mid-July to mid-September.
Storms may produce waterfalls as well as flash floods.
Autumn days are usually clear and mild, nights are often cool.
Autumn color displays begin in September in high country.
Colors in Zion Canyon usually peak in late October.
Winter days are fairly mild.
Storms can bring rain or light snow to Zion Canyon, and heavier snow to higher elevations.
Clear days may become quite warm, reaching 60F / 28C;
nights are often in the range of 20-30F / -6-0C.
Winter storms can last several days and cause roads to be icy.
